Melissa Explains: Solving Your Clothing Problems
A good outfit shouldn’t come with compromises. If you’re adjusting your top every five minutes or carrying your phone in your hand because the pockets are too shallow, something’s wrong. They’re small things, but they make a big difference. And for our design team, those little things are where great design begins.

Function Comes First (Always!)
When something doesn’t feel quite right - too stiff, too scratchy, too fussy - we notice. And we know you do too. That’s why we start with how a piece works, not just how it looks. Like the G&L Active Track Jacket, which has a built-in phone pocket that’s both discreet and functional, so you don’t have to carry your phone in your hand (or awkwardly shove it into your waistband). Or the Stretch-Fit Button Up Top, which includes a hidden no-gap bust button for a clean, polished look with no readjusting necessary. These aren’t afterthoughts; they’re part of the design from day one.
Designing for Real Life
There’s nothing better than a piece that pulls double duty. A top that layers well and stands on its own. A skirt with built-in shorts, so coverage isn’t a concern. A cardigan that’s also a dress. We love giving our pieces versatility, not just for variety’s sake, but because your days aren’t one-size-fits-all.
So we ask ourselves: Can it flex? Can it travel well? Can it work for morning errands and dinner with friends? If the answer is yes, we keep going.
Comfort Isn’t a Bonus, It’s the Baseline
Let’s be honest - if something isn’t comfortable, you’re not going to wear it, no matter how cute it is! So comfort is never, ever optional for us. We test fabrics for softness, stretch, breathability, shape retention... We fit and refit until the piece feels as good at 5 p.m. as it did when you first put it on. From delectably soft denim to perfectly drapey button-downs, we’re always trying to make the kinds of pieces you’ll reach for more than you think, because it just feels that good.
Our favorite pieces aren’t just pretty. They’re pieces that help you feel more confident, more comfortable, and more yourself. The kind you don’t have to second-guess. And the truth is, those usually come from noticing a tiny problem and deciding it’s worth solving.
